1. The Foundation: 100% On-Device Privacy
Zero Account Registration & Local Storage: Nightly requires no account creation, no email sign-in, and no passwords. All of your personal data—including saved scripture passages, prayer notes, habit streaks, highlight colors, and ritual progress—is stored locally on your device via iOS secure sandboxed storage. We do not maintain any cloud database of your personal prayers or activity.
2. Permissions Requested & Transparency
Nightly only requests system privileges essential for delivering bedside quietude:
- Local Notifications (
UserNotifications): Used exclusively to deliver the optional evening Bedtime Reminder at your scheduled time. Notification triggers are scheduled and fired locally by iOS on your device. We do not track when or whether you interact with notifications. - Background Audio Playback (
AVAudioSession): Enables soothing scripture narration and peace sounds to continue playing as your screen turns off or while you drift to sleep. Nightly never accesses your microphone, records sound, or monitors your environment.
3. Subscriptions & Apple In-App Purchases
All in-app purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions (Nightly Plus) are processed directly and securely by Apple via the official StoreKit API. We never receive, store, or have access to your credit card details, bank information, or Apple ID credentials. Transaction histories and billing receipts are managed exclusively by Apple according to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Third-Party Analytics and Advertising
Nightly contains zero third-party advertising SDKs and zero behavioral tracking software. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user information with data brokers or marketing platforms. We may receive aggregated, fully anonymized crash and performance metrics directly from Apple's App Store Connect (only when you have opted in with Apple).
5. Children's Privacy
Nightly is suitable for users of all ages. Because we do not collect personal identifiers or transmit data over external servers, we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in compliance with COPPA and GDPR regulations.
